In October we are still outdoors clearing in the garden and gathering wild fruit and nuts. Galway East tourism will launch their set of six WAYFINDING maps of Athenry, Ballinasloe, Gort, Loughrea, Portumna and Tuam. These guide you on a walking tour of the towns. The first week in October sees the Clarenbridge Arts Festival, Children's Book Week and following on Baboro 13th International Children's Festival in Galway. We have a list of EVENTS throughout the month on page 12.
This month we see the second harvest. The blackberries are in abundance and have come and almost gone but it is the sloes and hazelnuts that are ready to be picked. The autumn equinox is covered in HAVE VAN WILL TRAVEL. When Stuart traveled to TARA and TRIM to investigate, and there is some explanation of the equinox in the feature CALENDAR.
This is also the time of year to get involved in courses or hobbies and we have given you some ideas inside. Tango, Set dancing, Irish language, Holistic therapy courses and much more.
